Northwestern for free is a pretty sweet deal. Congrats on a great outcome!

Not sure that, based on the info. shared in your post, that there's anything worthy of debate. Northwestern is clearly the better choice unless you need to be close to family for medical reasons.

Good point:
1. Want to be in TN/AL most likely
2. Need talking points when I discuss with the Mrs.

Maybe that three years in the North amongst Yankees will give us more credibility when we boast about the superiority of Southern culture, the South & Southerners ?
P.S. Too much time has passed without a responsive post; my post was & is intended to be humorous in a good natured sense. Plus, I love the South.

I can't back you in this instance, as I remind my wife, i'm not afraid to burn ATL down again. Just looking for an excuse.CanadianWolf wrote:Maybe that three years in the North amongst Yankees will give us more credibility when we boast about the superiority of Southern culture, the South & Southerners ?

But seriously, the South is great, we lived there for many years. I've never even been to CHI.

As for talking points:
The employment outcomes of the two schools are probably the best bet.
http://www.lstscorereports.com/schools/ ... tern/2013/
http://www.lstscorereports.com/schools/vanderbilt/2013/
After looking at those, it seems the choice is really about how much you value not having to move out of TN/AL to go to Chicago for three years. I'm pretty sure getting back with your ties wouldn't be an issue. If you're aiming for biglaw Northwestern seems like it would give you a boost.
Also, are you going to Northwestern's ASW this weekend?

Chicago is spectacular--especially where Northwestern's law school is located. UChicago is in a much less desirable location, however.

Northwestern is a better school overall for sure and paying more for Vandy makes me cry inside a little bit but if you want to work for a firm in TN or AL I'm not 100% convinced that Northwestern is a better option.
If you wanted to be in NYC, Chicago, back home, etc. I would say Northwestern for sure.
