Berkeley sticker vs U of A full scholarship
I'm in a slight bit of a quandry. I am hesitating between going to U of A full scholarship - or possibly UC Davis full (I'm still waiting for gift aid response) - or going to Berkeley full price.I personally love the school and want to go there but ITE is it worth sticker?

where do you want to practice? if in the South, U of A would probably be a better choice. if in CA, the opposite would probably be true, although a lot of people around her will probably tell you that berkeley at sticker isn't worth it.

-The schools you are considering
-The total Cost of Attendance (COA) of each. COA = cost of tuition + fees + books + cost of living (COL) + accumulated interest - scholarships. Here is a helpful calculator.
-How you will be financing your COA, i.e. loans, family, or savings
-Where you are from and where you want to work, and other places where you have significant ties (if any)
-Your general career goals
-Your LSAT/GPA numbers
-How many times you have taken the LSAT

At a bare minimum you need to specify which U of A you're talking about. But, yeah, goals and ties, etc.

Given the mention of Davis and West Coast, I'm assuming A is Arizona.
Do you have nothing in between those two options? It sounds like you should have at least some $ at UCLA and USC

Arizona (or Alabama) doesn't make sense if you're from CA and want to practice there.

Glad to see that Alabama registers first for U of A. Roll Tide.

Berkeley at sticker is never a good choice. Arizona at full tuition, could be a good choice if your goal is to practice in Arizona and you think you would be happy at small law. If that's not your goal, then I would recommend that you either retake the LSAt and try again next year or that you give up on law school.

Feel free to pm me. I have some relevant experience with those schools.risingeagle wrote:I'm in a slight bit of a quandry. Short answer: I don't think Berkeley is worth sticker. Just wayyyyy too much debt. Some people will tell you to go for the prestige. I think going to a good school with a good scholly is the better way to go.
Have you visited University of Arizona? I personally didn't like it. If you're a Californian, go to a Californian school. The bar passage rate for the CA bar from U of A was not good the last time I checked. UC Davis is a good option depending on what you want to do and if you get substantial aid (2/3 of tuition or something like that).
