Job prospects for international student at Columbia

Post by harveyspecter993 » Thu Jan 01, 2015 7:19 pm

Hi guys,

Supposing I get into Columbia, study hard and hopefully be in the top 10% of my class, how good would my biglaw prospects be. Is it harder to get hired in NYC biglaw if one is an international student?

Thanks.

Are you trolling? You could be deep into the bottom half of the class and still get some biglaw gig out of CLS. To my knowledge it's not any worse for international students than domestic.

There is a tiny bit of extra work required for the law firm to sponsor your visa, but I cannot imagine any big law firm putting any significant weight on that aspect, especially coming from Columbia.
