Re: Schools outside the T14
"Retake."
But seriously, there are some strong regionals out there with placement numbers above some schools in the Top 20. Definitely looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with. With that said, those 6 figure jobs are often the exception rather than the rule and scholarship money becomes even more important at this level.

You're looking for bad recommendations that have a small chance of unicorn outcomes.

Would you mind linking to a few specific threads that do this?RaiderRed wrote:Would it be possible to have a thread where people don't just frown upon someone for going outside the T14?

Re: Schools outside the T14
People give that advice because in a lot of circumstances the only right answer is to retake or not go. There are a lot of schools that are simply not worth going to for almost anyone or any amount. These schools should be shut down. They aren't because people who have shitty numbers feel the need to go to them and get floated guaranteed loans. I don't know if you're specific situation merits the retake or don't go advice but for a lot of people it's the only good advice.RaiderRed wrote:That verb usage was probably strong on my part, I simply mean where people don't tell you to retake because you scored below a 170. I know it frustrated me when I was in a panic after I scored a 160 in June while PTing so much higher. I finally got a few people who gave more advice than retake but the retake retake retake method only works for three tests.BigZuck wrote:Would you mind linking to a few specific threads that do this?RaiderRed wrote:Would it be possible to have a thread where people don't just frown upon someone for going outside the T14?

It's not that schools outside the T20 suck, it's that biglaw isn't likely, so you have to keep costs down. Bama, Kentucky, and UGA have solid employment outcomes, but paying sticker would be too much. That's why people say retake. Why pay six figures when you can retake a test and go much cheaper? Btw, I can't think of a single poster who says T-14 (or T-20) or bust.

regular on-topics posters are generally not t14 or bust/170 or retake unless the poster's goals require it
people may be more willing to give you a hand if you don't start your post by insulting them

I mean, you do you OP. But don't please don't misrepresent the advice that is shared on this website. People come in all the time to ask for advice on schools/situations that aren't compatible with their goals. And then they get told the best path to achieve their goals and many get upset just because they have it in their mind that they are destined to be successful cuz all lawyers are rich or something. Many people are just wildly misinformed about how the whole law school/lawyer thing works. Instead of getting mad/putting their fingers in the ear and going "LALALALALALA" they should just take it all in and do more research. This site is an amazing resource and there are a ton of posters here who very genuinely want to get everyone where they want to be and put them in the best possible position to succeed.
