Duke, UVA, and Northwestern (apparently TLS is pro-Northwestern now?) are interchangeable for NY biglaw. Retaking is the smart call here, but, barring that, pick the one that offers the best personal fit and go from there.

I'm a few years out of the game, but isn't a 3.8 169 good enough for Duke/UVA regular decision?

I would ED at NYU. You'll very likely get Duke via RD, and you're close to guaranteed at Cornell. If you find your cycle isn't going especially well come December, then ED to UVA.

Don't do anything until you've applied via duke's PT program and heard back. Once you have an offer in hand (and I think you will) you'll be much less inclined to tie yourself to sticker @ wherever.

Ya apply Duke PT. Get an early acceptance then blanket the T14. Visit each school and talk to students to get a feel for cultures.

I think TLS is pro-Northwestern since everyone admitted ED gets that sweet, sweet scholarship $$$$.
Hell, I received scholarship money as an ED admit to Duke. ED eliminates any negotiating leverage you might have had (I had none, so no worries), but it doesn't necessarily guarantee sticker price. In any case, though, I think the move here (assuming no retake) is to follow the advice already given and apply RD to these schools.

You'll get one of MVPBDCNG, which will give you a roughly similar chance of NY Biglaw, so what's the problem here when COA isn't an issue?

Take what you get and move on, pretty simple.

Our cycle I was accepted RD at Duke and got 90K and wait listed and later accepted with 60K at UVA with slightly lower numbers.

OP- don't ED to Duke or UVA, that would be a terrible decision. Also make sure you retake the LSAT again, twice if you have to. Not retaking would also be a terrible decision. Don't be that guy, you're better than that.

Get that NU money. It's just too easy. Or retake.

Doesn't matter, schools won't care. The very real possibility that you do better makes it worth it.

Also, you might have to study better depending on how you approached it.

Yeah and I know the UVA LSAT Median dropped (though class shrunk) so seems OP should be fairly solid.

If you're truly this spectacularly loaded, I say fuck it, just visit UVA and Duke to see which would be the best personal fit, and then apply ED to guarantee yourself admission. Eliminate any risk of rejection and free up the scholarship money you might have received for someone who really needs it.

OP has a legitimate shot at NYU. That'd be better than either UVA or Duke for NYC biglaw.

A 170+ wouldn't hurt, but you definitely have a prayer. More reason to get your PT app into Duke now.

Penn median is 169 now, and NYU's is probably still 170 but I wouldn't be surprised if 169's became attractive soon.

I think you will regret EDing to duke or virginia and passing up the opportunity for NYU. Priority Track at Duke already provides you a quick decision. Locking yourself into UVA, money issues aside, seems like a poor play.

If I had all the $ in the world, first I'd retake, but second, I'd go to NYU - yes it's crazy expensive, but if you're DGAF then you can live in arguably the best neighborhood in the world with the best chance at an elite NY firm your LSAT allows
