Wake Forest Deferral is Binding? Forum

Hello,

Just curious if anyone knew Wake Forest Deferral was binding? I took the deferral this year and was thinking about applying to other schools just to see the waters. I didn't sign anything that stated it was binding, and only paid for the first two seat deposit.

All deferrals are binding in that if you apply somewhere else WF will reject you. If you want to apply somewhere else then withdraw from there. But if LSAT/GPA hasn't changed, then your cycle won't change.

whatever the consequences of breaking the binding deferral agreement might be, they are certainly less severe than going into debt to attend Wake Forest. I think you should reapply if you have stronger credentials.

Why not take the LSAT again and see what happens? Wake is already one of the more generous scholly schools, and with the extra $30k deferment it's probably a cheaper option than any of its peer schools if you were to reapply with the same numbers. And then you wouldn't have Wake's option.

Wake had a big fall in employment numbers from class of 2012 to class of 2013, this will likely result in a fall in the US News rankings when the Class of 2013 stats figure into the rankings that will be released this Spring. I suspect whatever offer you got from wake in last year's cycle will look bad compared to whatever Wake and its peers will offer this cycle.
