LMU or UA Please Help! Forum

Hey guys,

I'm currently deciding between going to Loyola Marymount in LA or the University of Arizona in Tucson.

I have a full ride no stipulations for both. I would rather practice in LA than Phoenix after but I'm not sure what to do since UA is ranked a lot higher than LMU. I'm interested in tax or sports/entertainment law.

Cost of attendance is roughly around 10K/year for either school after help from family and money I have saved up.

I have to decide by Thursday.

I've taken the LSAT three times already.

UA makes no sense for LA, and I'm not sure Loyola is worth spending money out of pocket to attend. 50% shot at being a lawyer is no bueno. Or at least not bueno enough.

The thing you should do is buckle down for #4 or find a better use of your time or money. But I don't really expect you to do the smart thing here so I guess enjoy Loyola?

Stips for LMU is top 75% and UofA is top 90%. I would know, I applied to both and I received a full ride to UofA as well.

Manofthehour, you are correct about the stipulations for both schools but after further negotiation, I was able to get both schools to drop them.

I tend to get pretty cynical when people say in their original post both a) I took the test three times and b) Rich parents so doesn't matter. Full disclosure: I tend not to believe those people are telling the truth and I just assume they are trying to circumvent good advice. The OP did that and on top added that they had a full ride to both. I do believe rich parents exist and I know some people take the test 3 times (you and me included). But I'll be honest and say I wasn't buying what this poster was selling (and yeah, I know they just said partial parental support+savings and not rich parents but same diff to me).

But, you're right, that's not fair.

Look OP, assuming that's all true, I still think getting better options is the credited response here. If you have full rides then I assume your GPA must be pretty good at least so only thing holding you back is the LSAT. On top of that you have savings and parents who will help you out. Make a smart investment in a school that might maybe sorta give you a decent shot at your goals. That means UCLA/USC at a minimum. Whatever you mean by entertainment law, that certainly ain't happening from either school. Getting a small firm job doing estate planning is like a best case realistic scenario from schools like these unless you absolutely kill it grade wise (and the chances of that happening are slim).
