Fee Waivers & Emails from Law Schools Interested in You
Hi TLS members,
I have been lurking TLS for quite some time now. Having just recently received a message from YCrevolution about all the great features of the site. I took that to mean that I should actually start to actively contribute to the forums.
Anyway, I received an e-mail after a recent LSAC Forum from "Law School X" saying how they enjoyed meeting me and another e-mail from "Law School Y" offering their apologies for not getting the chance to meet me (because I was exhausted having already talked to dozens of representatives and "Law School Y" happened to be just 1 out of 75 schools who invited me to visit their table at the event) in addition to an application fee waiver offer.
Does this mean I have a good chance of acceptance if I apply to either Law School X or Law School Y? Please let me know what you think. I am curious to know if any other members of this forum have had similar experiences. Thanks!

Many schools have a diarrhea method of sending such emails to get as many pple to apply as possible to enhance their "selectivity." Chances are yes, you likely are someone they would consider for acceptance if they are sending you such an email; however, just be smart about it. If it's a TTTT, they send those email to anyone with a pulse. Apply where you are interested and see what happens.

I am interested in this too, not that I am super interested in going to Vermont College of Law but I actually get emails from WUSTL on the regular and am wondering if they are just mass mailing me or are actually interested in my stellar GPA. I doubt they know my numbers though. Hmmmmm.

There are two reasons law schools do this.
1) To drive up the number of applications submitted. More applications submitted= more applications rejected = higher selectivity ranking in USNWR.
2) They are desperate for applicants because nobody wants to pay their inflated tuition prices.
