UNC vs W&L vs Wake

Post by Gonoles6 » Tue Jun 17, 2014 6:20 pm

-The schools you are considering
UNC W&L Wake

-The total Cost of Attendance (COA) of each. COA = cost of tuition + fees + books + cost of living (COL) + accumulated interest - scholarships.

UNC 96k total debt, W&L 66k total debt, Wake 80k total debt

-How you will be financing your COA, i.e. loans, family, or savings
I will be paying with loans

-Where you are from and where you want to work, and other places where you have significant ties (if any)
From Florida with strong ties to Florida. Would like to practice in FL or DC but would be happy in NC as a third option.

-Your general career goals
Very open. Interested in most career options currently

3.2 gpa 161 LSAT. No retakes left.

W&L latest downward trend worries me going forward but I'm unsure if UNC is worth the extra debt. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

What about UF and FSU?

I wouldn't do Wake or UNC b/c you aren't from NC

W&L has really struggled with job placement in the last few years. It is also really far from the only market you have ties to.

Even w/ top 10% grades from these schools, DC is not a guarantee.

FL biglaw is small and by going to regional schools outside of FL you are not doing yourself any favor.
