BC, or hold out for wait lists, or wait and reapply
I've been accepted to BC with $22,000 a year and wait listed an UMN, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt. With savings and help from parents I can finish BC with no debt. I want to practice immigration and human rights law. Undergrad GPA 3.71 from large state school, LSAT 165 taken one time.
So, go BC, try hard to get off the wait lists, or wait a cycle and possibly retake the LSAT.
Also, I'm already 3 years out of UG, did TFA, and a female.
Thoughts?

When did you submit your applications?

Late in the cycle. January-March.

Depending on how you feel about BC and your WL chances, I'd say retake if you think there's room for improvement (Sept.) and resubmit as early as possible, but that's just very general advice. Do you have a particular school you're most interested in?

I don't have my heart set on any one school. I know that immigration law won't pay well and human rights law will be hard to break into. I like BC because it has a lot of focused coursework and good clinics. My goal was to get into a T14 since a degree from there will be most portable. But I'm not sure if I would get in to a T14 without having to retake the LSAT.

You probably won't get in at a T14 w/o a retake, so just suck it up and retake in September. Get your apps out as early as possible and retake in February 2015 if you don't like your September results.ohteachlaw wrote:I don't have my heart set on any one school. BC with no debt is a pretty good option, but you have the opportunity to go T14 with no debt, which = freedom. Don't waste that on BC because you couldn't wait one more year.

With a goal of tough to crack PI I wouldn't just go to a random regional school. Especially not when I have parents willing to foot the bill.
Definitely retake/reapply

I was in a similarish position last year with a 22 K a year offer from Notre Dame and waitlist from northwestern with only 1 LSAT. I decided to retake and improved my score by a mere 3 points. This year I received a 55K per year scholarship from northwestern. Very happy with my decision and I would encourage you to do the same.
