Duke with 70k or nyu sticker?
So I accepted the duke offer but then got off the wait list at nyu. I am from upstate ny and want to practice in NYC in biglaw after school. I really loved dukes campus and student body but I love nyc as well. Does nyu give me a much better chance at my end goal that I should pay full price?

Doesn't Duke require you to withdraw from all other waitlists/applications when you accept? That might be a problem for you.
Plenty of Duke students go to NYC. I would definitely take a scholarship over sticker considering either school can place you in your desired market.

I thought schools couldn't require you to withdraw from waitlists, only from schools where you'd been accepted.

Way too much debt for either school. Neither of these are good options.

Definitely Duke. And I do not think that Duke on a 70k scholarship is "too expensive." It's a lot of money, so think carefully about sitting out a cycle, but its a solid option. DO NOT PAY STICKER AT NYU.

They're not ideal options, but they're not terrible if OP wants NYC biglaw. Personally, I'd go with Duke. COL will be much, much cheaper than NYC, particularly if you live with roommates at a decent distance from the school. You will most likely need a car (or bum rides from other people) so keep that in mind, but I still think it's a much better deal than NYU.LegalReality wrote:Way too much debt for either school. You should make a poll. Anyway, I'd go with Duke for COL reasons and because you can still get to NY.

Can you post the total cost and everything that sticky asks? Won't you have about $150,000 debt from Duke including interest and tuition hikes?
