Freaking out; Need to Make a Decision!

Post by SFinnegan » Thu May 15, 2014 5:00 pm

Hey guys, I have to make a decision soon and I am FREAKING out. I’ve been blessed with two great law school acceptances from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School and the Abraham Lincoln School of Law (ALU). I know this is the classic “online vs. brick and mortar” law school dilemma, but I would still appreciate your help on this.

My cost of attendance is roughly the same for both, but might be a little lower for ALU since I’d have the convenience of never leaving my house. I’ll be financing my education through a combination of family contributions, personal savings ($233 +/- 5%) and payday loans. I’m not messing with any of those crazy Obama government loans.

In terms of prestige the schools are also very similar. Cooley is regarded as the “Harvard of the Central Midwest,” however, I’m fairly certain that ALU was founded by President Lincoln himself (employers will like this). I’m really hoping to get a SCOTUS clerkship after graduating but I’d settle for a V100 job too.

What do you guys think? I’ve been told to “capture the dream” all my life so it’s really important I go somewhere that will let me achieve my goals. I’m sure I can’t go wrong with either and I know that employers can’t discriminate based on schools anyway, but this is still a tough one.

really can't go wrong with either. think this is a rare case when you should just choose wherever you think you'd have more fun.

Dear TLS flame:

Disguise yourself better. This is a 120 effort.
