Re: Has anyone seen this one before?
lol.. that dude can barely speak coherently.
"Teachers and faculty are great. Why do I say that? Well, bcuz if i need one on one experience, or whether, it's not like a university where I'm in a classroom with a thousand plus, or whatever be the case. I get it straight from the professors."
Direct, verbatim quote.

If anyone wants to hear that gem, it's @ 1:45.
His speech during the ceremony is golden, too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iko0AVYJq_A
"What makes an ALU graduate so special? Is that we're doin' all this while workin' 40 hours plus a week, bein' a parent, helpin the kids with their homework, mowin' the law, coookin' dinner, and payin' the bills. That's just to say a little bit of the numerous obligations we're required to attend while at the same time we're attending ALU. That's what distinguishes us from everyone else. So that's why we don't need a reputation of somethin' from Stanford.. while that's obviously notable and all that.. we've earned just as much as anyone else out there in the world..we still have a JD just like anyone else. we can still pass the bar just like anyone else."
He concludes with a quote from Michelangelo.

Someone needs to remake "Paper Chase". Instead of Harvard it'll take place at Stanford and star that guy as lead. Maybe it can even be a reality show of sorts.

Ave Maria School of Law ... 30 percent bar passage rate. Not bad, ALU. Not bad.

This ALU professor looks and sounds like he's reading a prepared statement at the insistence of an off camera gunman.

the school does a disservice to the name of one of the greatest Americans who has ever lived.

They need to change the school's name to something like "The Millard Fillmore Learning Academy of Law" or something like that. It's such a disgrace when shitty schools use great president's names.

lol @ millard fillmore. I think "The William Henry Harrison Institute of Dead Job Prospects" might be appropriate too.Clyde Frog wrote:They need to change the school's name to something like "The Millard Fillmore Learning Academy of Law" or something like that. This is sick. This school makes Cooley sound like Harvard.

Hahaha. I wonder if they classify a cop as "JD Advantage."Brettanomyces wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNQea4GCxcs

That sort if thing might actually work for a cop. He's probably just using it get a step up not like he will probably ever practice.Clyde Frog wrote:That was painful to watch. Big surprise he was a cop.Brettanomyces wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNQea4GCxcs

"Do I need to take the LSAT?
No. We have our own assessment test that applicants can take any time of the year at the school or online."
Darn. I could've saved myself a lot of trouble.

I don't really get what's so ridiculous about the police guy. He has a job with weird hours, bills to pay, and four kids--seems like an online law school made sense for him. I respect him 100x more than a K-JD who refuses to retake and pays sticker at American.

At least the K-JDer is only hurting themself. If he has 4 kids and bills to pay, paying for a worthless law degree on top of that isn't very smart.banjo wrote:I don't really get what's so ridiculous about the police guy. Nah I was being serious. The law school seems pretty cheap (http://www.alu.edu/school-of-law/tuition-fees.php) and he said he was a veteran--maybe some of that cost is covered? I felt kind of bad for him because it's far from the worst decision I've seen.BigZuck wrote:At least the K-JDer is only hurting themself. Re: Has anyone seen this one before?
I'm not sure that's the point. His decision to attend is all his--and I don't really mind it, given the circumstances--but the comments he makes are kind of upsetting. I mean, dude equates this place to Stanford and Berkeley more than once, implying that attending it is beneficial not only because it allows you to keep your unorthodox schedule, but also because it's still a law school, and it doesn't really matter where you go because you'll have to take the bar anyway. He may just be doing a promo, or whatever, but there are potentially a few people who may come across this video and think, "who needs the LSAT? I've got a kid and/or a job. Sign me up."banjo wrote:Nah I was being serious. Maybe I'm jaded, but his comments seemed like the standard drivel you hear in these kinds of videos. I just think our outrage is better directed at worse offenders--deans and professors who knowingly misrepresent data to students.Brettanomyces wrote:I'm not sure that's the point.
