Vandy vs UT (OR Defer)
Can't decide. Have $60K scholarship from Vandy but would be paying sticker at UT.
I'm from NE and don't have a strong preference for job location (though I'd like to escape the cold). I love both schools and cities too.
However, I idiotically applied very late to my schools (after priority deadlines for some) and have been WL at UVA, Penn, Mich and Gtown. MY LSAT/UGPA is a 170/3.6, so I'm thinking I would have a good shot at getting into one of these schools if I deferred a year and reapplied early in cycle. I'm not sure this is worth it tho since UT and Vandy are great, and I could risk not getting readmitted to them if I reapplied. What do you think is best? Thx!

What are your career goals?
Regardless, both Vandy and UT are too much, especially with your 170. Ride out the waitlists this year and see what you get, but plan on applying the first day apps open next year. Have strong "Why" essays for the YP schools.

I want to work in Big Law, or at least start there. I'm definitely hoping for a WL spot but I've got to send in a deposit soon. I def don't think it's worth delaying a yr for Gtown but the others are tempting.

Reapply the day apps open next year, hone your application, write Why X statements, etc.
Going to either of those schools at those prices makes no sense and neither are the best for big law, especially in the northeast.
Honestly, I think you should be aiming higher and expect more money.

I do not even think you need to retake. You should reapply, apply early. ED somewhere prestigious. Crazy things may happen. Your numbers are definitely amazing.

Vandy and UT would be too expensive considering you have numbers warranting higher scholarships. You also seem to be ok with the idea of reapplying. That would be the correct choice.

ED somewhere prestigious? What does that even mean? And why?
OP- don't ED anywhere, that would be a terrible mistake (unless you could manage to snag the 150K ED scholarship at NU)

ED'ing anywhere other than NU is always a mistake unless you're a super splitter and are ok with paying sticker for CCN.
