Georgetown (90k) vs. NYU (75k)
I have a feeling how TLSers are going to see this one, but I am having the hardest time making a decision and I need to have one by tomorrow.
Georgetown offered me 90k, total COA 148,500
NYU offered 75k (with PI second summer, otherwise 62.5k), total COA 168,000
Obviously those don't include interest, which makes the cost difference even higher.
I have ties to both cities (grew up in NY/family there; currently live in DC and did undergrad/WE nearby). I could be happy living in either city. NYU has the higher ranking, but I'm wondering if it's worth the extra money just for that. Long term goals are PI (and yes, I have a demonstrated interest). I asked NYU to consider raising my scholarship amount, but haven't heard back yet.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Yeah, this is an easy NYU choice. You want PI, and NYU has a ton of PI-focused resources and programs. Not to mention the fact that NYU as a whole has far better placement stats in general over Gtown. Even if you hadn't said PI, I'd still have said NYU given how close the total cost. But given that you are even thinking about PI, its NYU by a mile.

The vastly, seriously vastly, improved job prospects at NYU are well worth the extra cost of $19,500. Pick NYU and don't look back.

I go to Gtown and voted NYU. Unless you absolutely 100% want to work in DC over NY this is a no-brainer, and even then it'd be a tossup.
