The difference in CoA is negligible (a few thousand $ - nothing to really sway me from one to the other). I will be getting interest-free loans from my parents.

I am most concerned about choosing a school where I will be happy for the next 3 years, and where I will be well-prepared for the career I want.

Do you like warm weather? Duke.
Do you like cold weather? Michigan.

They are peers and the student bodies are drawn from the same group of applicants.

I don't think very many people on this board can help you. You need to find out whether an MA in Art History is helpful/necessary to achieving your goals. You also need to find out whether graduating with an MA will hurt your biglaw chances. Perhaps firms will see that you're ultimately interested in something else, and that will turn them off. (But that's just speculation on my part.)

Retake or take Duke. The MA won't hurt for NYC big law--might even make you seem like an interesting person. If you want chill comrades, though, you might be out of luck. 1L is stressful.
