Email asking for merit-aid

Post by Princetonlaw68 » Wed Apr 02, 2014 11:02 pm

Hi everyone,

I sent out an email to aT14 asking for some merit-scholly money a couple of days ago and they still haven't gotten back to me. When I sent the email to the school, I immediately received an automatic response telling me that it may take a few days for them to get back to me, so I thought I would receive a response by today. Does anyone have experience with sending an email like this and know how long it might take for them to get back to me? Less than a week? A week? 2 weeks?

Just was curious because I know when I've sent emails to schools that have simpler responses, like letting them know I added something to my resume, I've gotten back the "thanks for letting us know" within a day or 2 every time. Now it's been longer than that length of time, which makes sense because it's something that isn't just an automatic response, but I'd like to know how long I should expect to wait for an email back.

Thanks!!!

(Edit: Notes: I was already accepted to the school a while ago)

From my experience, it was either within the day (since the deposit deadline was very close) or in a 1-3 weeks.

Wow. So it can really take 3 weeks for them to get back to me? Sounds like a lot. Thanks!

I've had a school give me weeks (3+) of radio silence and then increase the offer (for the second time) immediately after I told them I had put a deposit at a different institution.

Interesting. So for example, you'd be in my situation, then send an email out to the school "I put in a deposit at ____," and then you'd immediately get back an email saying "here's your scholarship!," even though before you said you put in the deposit it looked as though they might never get back to you?

I wasn't expecting anything extra, no. I basically said that I am going to X school for financial reasons, but if you give me more money I will still consider matriculating.
