3.8, 166 LSAT
Test were 166, cancel, 166. For the last 2 tests I was scoring in the low to mid 170s during my practice tests. The cancel was due to flu symptoms, and I choked on one section on the final LSAT sitting. I do believe these are not indicative of my true scoring ability, but I don't know if it's worth gambling another year and a half of sitting out law school to find out.
I have no UG debt, and will be financing law school partly through my family and through loans. I want to work in California (LA or Bay) or NYC; I don't mind biglaw if it's the only way to pay off debt.

Need more deets. If family and savings can cover COL so your USC debt load is far under 100K then it'd be a defensible choice for your goals, IMO.
How long would you have to wait for a retake and what are your present employment prospects? If you're a humanities grad and you don't have much immediate hope for gainful employment, I'd be more inclined to say what the hell and go for it. But if you have a path for any career you could stand in the short term, working and retaking would be far more advisable and put you in a much better situation for life, admissions and post LS employment.

+1 to need more deets. Are these figures costs or schollies? What percentage of total costs is family going to cover?Will_McAvoy wrote:Need more deets. If family and savings can cover COL so your USC debt load is far under 100K then it'd be a defensible choice for your goals, IMO.

These numbers are total scholly. Family will cover 50% of all costs, so total debt load will be under 100k for 3 years for either school.Will_McAvoy wrote:Need more deets. For a retake, I would have to wait til December of this year. My employment prospects are not great, but I am currently employed, able to make ends meet, have relatively stability... I'd prefer not to be stuck here but I could stomach waiting another year.

USC for roughly cost-of-living debt (your share after parents and scholarships) seems pretty reasonable for someone who wants b-law in LA ...
