UNC sticker vs Wake ($$)
I'm trying to decide between going to UNC at potentially sticker price and Wake Forest, whose offering me 25k a year. I visited both schools and love the UNC environment, professors, admissions representatives, etc, and wasn't too impressed with Wake. I'm just wondering if I can justify going to UNC at sticker since I am out of state. They may have another round of scholarships coming out after April 11th but there are no guarantees. I don't want to stay in NC after graduating, and I'm not going to retake the LSAT. Any thoughts

Retake/reapply. Both schools are too expensive and don't align with your career/life goals.thp25 wrote:I'm trying to decide between going to UNC at potentially sticker price and Wake Forest, whose offering me 25k a year. Even if you were from NC and wanted to work in NC you should retake. Because you have no desire to work in NC and you have provided no information beyond that, I will simply tell you that no, neither option is cost justified.

If you don't want to practice in NC, don't go to law school in NC ( unless its Duke- and your target is the South)BigZuck wrote:Retake/reapply. In which state do you want to work? Go to a school in that state.

Why did you apply to two schools that place the vast majority of their grads in North Carolina if you don't want to work in North Carolina?
Figure out where you do want to work, and then target schools that send people to jobs in them.

UNC 3L here. Do not got to Carolina or Wake if you do not want to stay in NC. Even if you are willing to stay in NC, both schools are questionable choices without ties. Can you get to other states from UNC? Yes, but only if you are either (1) at the very top of the class (you CANNOT count on that happening), or (2) blessed with serious personal connections in some other market (and if this is the case, you should go to LS in that market). I would NOT pay OOS tuition to UNC or Wake, especially given that you have no interest in working in NC.
