Can any current students at pepperdine (or anyone who knows a lot about the school) give some details on the atmosphere at the law school? While I know that the administration has a reputation for being very conservative, does this affect the lives of the students and the educational experience? I am really considering going there but I myself am not religous at all nor am I conservative so I am wondering if this would be a problem at Pepperdine

There #1 objective of law schools is to get you gainfully employed -- don't worry about the politics/agenda that's peripheral go to the school that offers you the best opportunity to gain successful employment at the lowest cost/debt and make your decision based on that & not other ancillary or immaterial considerations.

Everything I have heard about Pepp amounts to the Undergrad side is more Christian/conservative charged, and the law school is very diverse and the law students don't really notice that sort of environment. There's a prayer at the first day of school and maybe one at graduation (?) (I read that somewhere on TLS). Here's a quote from my friend and a recent alumn of Pepperdine:

"Malibu is a beautiful place and Pepperdine has to be one of the most beautiful campuses in the United States. Pepperdine is more conservative than most law schools but there is plenty of room for debate and open discourse, and the law school attracts people from a broad spectrum of political and religious beliefs."

I'm considering attending- I was raised Catholic but am moderately liberal and from what I am hearing it's not going to be an issue. I'm a 0L though, so take it FWIW...

A good friend attended several years ago and did run into some issues when she started interviewing for internships. More than one interviewer assumed she was evangelical purely because of her choice of school, which was problematic when she was trying to do some liberal-minded PI work. Granted, she's an atheist and said the vibe at school wasn't that bad, but it carries a certain stigma in the outside world. She wound up transferring to USC and doing biglaw, so The Lord must work in mysterious ways.

If you must, negotiate and go to Loyola. At least their sTTTip is at top 75% and not top 50% like Pepperdine.

Well for me the top 50% is a good motivator because there is no way I should ever let myself fall below that if I attend a school like Pepperdine, and Loyola feel significantly in the rankings so that makes them a lot less appealing

The rankings are completely irrelevant here. You're still comparing a TTT to a TTT. You understand that there is a forced curve and that they put everyone with full scholarships and stipulations (the best incoming students) into the same classes so that some of them have to lose their scholarships? Not saying for sure that Pepperdine does this, but a lot of TTTs do.

You should really retake or attend here without planning on becoming a lawyer.

You really think it would matter if you were barely in the top 40% as opposed to the top 60%? Either way its going to be a dogfight to get a job and having the slightly better grades isn't going to help you.

I haven't fully decided on Pepperdine, I do have other offers I am looking at and am considering retaking in June to see what else I can get. What I was hoping to get from this thread was a feel for the atmosphere at the school, not to have the employment prospects that I'm already aware of reiterated so thank you to those who answered! Appreciate it!
