UC Davis (sticker)-Pepperdine (38k)-Penn State (Full Ride)

Post by Newb2law » Tue Mar 25, 2014 5:33 pm

UC Davis (sticker)
Pepperdine (38k per yr)- Must remain in top 50% of class (around 3.2)
Penn State (Full Ride)
USD (35K per yr)

I want to practice in California. USD and Penn stips are just to remain in good academic standing. If i go to Pepperdine I could live at home... but the stipulations are too much for me to want to take that risk.

Everyone is going to tell you to retake. And they'll be right.

Don't go to Penn State if you want to practice in California.

UC Davis is the best of the bunch, but it's a big risk at sticker.

Really, those aren't good options. You should retake.

Paying sticker at Davis is a bad move

Leaving CA to attend a random local school when you want to practice in CA is a bad move

<50% chance of a Jd required job @ Davis and people still are thinking of rolling those dice.

In order to receive the best feedback in this forum, please provide as much of the following information in your original post as possible:

-The schools you are considering
-The total Cost of Attendance (COA) of each. COA = cost of tuition + fees + books + cost of living (COL) + accumulated interest - scholarships. Here is a helpful calculator.
-How you will be financing your COA, i.e. loans, family, or savings
-Where you are from and where you want to work, and other places where you have significant ties (if any)
-Your general career goals
-Your LSAT/GPA numbers
-How many times you have taken the LSAT
If you give us more information this way, we can be a little more helpful, but all the advice you're going to get with what you posted is the typical TLS retake comment.

Which you should.
