Re: NU ($$$) vs. Berkeley
What am I missing here? You have a full ride from Northwestern and no money at Berkeley but aren't sure where to go? Unless Berkeley offers you well over 100k it's Northwestern easily.

I would say Northwestern, unless maybe you are sure that you want to end up in northern CA, because Berkeley might better allow you make connections in that area that Northwestern would not. If you want to do PI, going to law school without much debt could be really helpful in allowing you to do that.

Re: NU ($$$) vs. Berkeley
Basically I want to know what others think it'll take from Berkeley to make that choice. That is what I had my mind set on at the beginning of the cycle, but NU blindsided me with their offer.Tiago Splitter wrote:What am I missing here? Yeah come back when you have Berkeley's offer to match. And if they don't match your choice is clear.Tiago Splitter wrote:What am I missing here? Re: NU ($$$) vs. Berkeley
Northwestern places well into California so you should only take Berkeley if the cost difference is minimal. This really shouldn't be a discussion unless Berkeley comes to you with a massive offer. Try to work that Northwestern scholarship to other peers including Berkeley and see what you end up with. I know Berkeley claims not to care about Northwestern offers but if you can get other schools in on the bidding they should offer something substantial.littlebun wrote:Basically I want to know what others think it'll take from Berkeley to make that choice. Re: NU ($$$) vs. Berkeley
As it stands NU no question. If Berkely offers a full ride, then there is a debate, if you want California really bad.

Re: NU ($$$) vs. Berkeley
FWIW, Northwestern isn't on the list of schools that Berkeley uses for matching scholarships.

Re: NU ($$$) vs. Berkeley
That's why I said that I know Berkeley claims not to care. Fortunately, at least seven of those ten do care, which would then make Berkeley care. And that's assuming Berkeley isn't full of shit.Mullens wrote:FWIW, Northwestern isn't on the list of schools that Berkeley uses for matching scholarships.
