Not Sure Where To Go
Hey all - I took the LSAT last year twice got a 135. Took it this year in February 2014 got a 150 .. KAPLAN helped a lot. Can't take it again for two years because of that rule. My undergrad GPA is 3.56 and I have a B.A./M.A. in English.
Just finished applying to these schools:
Seton Hall
Brooklyn Law
Hofstra
Pace
NYLS
Albany
St. John's (where I graduated)
New England Law
Western New England Law
Univ of Baltimore
Roger Williams
John Marshall
Univ of Dayton
Florida Coastal (30K scholarship offered)
Arizona Summit (30K scholarship offered)
Thomas Jefferson
California Western
I'm going to be taking out loans and get some help from family. I'm from NJ, I want to practice in NJ and/or NY - Entertainment, Media or IP Law only.
Just recently found out about this Tier 1-4 stuff and accredited v. non. I feel way behind because I'm out of college so had no advisor to guide me. Found this forum. I'm just wondering where to go or if all these schools suck and I should apply to others?
The only school that got back to me so far is John Marshall with an acceptance.

Calling troll, but on the off chance you're not, you absolutely must retake the LSAT next year. Do not go to any of those schools, even with a full ride.

Re: Not Sure Where To Go
Everyone.. wtf I'm not a troll LOL I'm 28 full-time job in NJ just trying to get some advice on how to better my life.
I made a mistake I guess by saying I got scholarship OFFERS from arizona and florida coastal, what I meant was that Florida and Arizona emailed saying they saw my GPA and LSAT score and I am eligible for 30K/year scholarships.
Not thrilled about taking it next year TBH. I worked my ass off and I'm not a straight A student, LSAT was hard af for me to understand and learn.

Your impressive LSAT and GPA qualifications may make you eligible for a merit scholarship of up to $30,000. I invite you to apply to XYZ law school and look forward to meeting you in person soon.
Sincerely,

Its not so much a scholarship offer as a bait and switch to get you to apply

I was afraid of that but okay I understand. Guess I will have to wait to see if I actually get accepted, and then see how much the real offer is for.theotherone823 wrote:Dear jenniferschecter, sublime wrote:How do you have scholarship offers from different schools, if John Marshall is the only one that has gotten back to you?

Re: Not Sure Where To Go
The LSAT has nothing to do with English.. well I guess except the Reading Comp obvi. But Logical Reasoning and Logic Games? Ridic. hard for me to grasp. Have you never seen anyone list those because they suck as institutions?sublime wrote:Ok. That makes sense. On the off chance that you are legitimate, why was the LSAT so difficult? Especially with a Master's degree in English?

Re: Not Sure Where To Go
I understand I will definitely check that out thank you. I mean honestly if it weren't for my KAPLAN teacher the second time around I wouldn't have done so well. He helped me a lot. Yeah I can take it again started next year tho, because there's some rule u can only take it 3x every two years. So I have to wait now. But I was really hoping to get in for Fall.. I just wanna start this already! The time is a-wasting.sublime wrote: Well, I would go to this site's LSAT forum and start practicing for a retake. If you have taken three times, you can probably take again for next cycle. Unfortunately, Kaplan has a terrible reputation, and there are resources in that forum that are much more
effective.

Go to Law School Transperancy's website. Look very carefully at the employment info for each school. Remember that outside of big firms, most starting attorney salaries are 40-60k. Figure out how much you'll have to borrow for tuition and living expenses. Add in 3 years of interest accumulation and see what you'll owe. Then use a loan calculator to see what you're payments will be.

After I do all that, you're saying to compare all of them and see which is the cheapest option? And kind of go from there?Nomo wrote:Go to Law School Transperancy's website. Okay okay. Don't mean to be defensive, but yeah I am real I'll throw my number out there to prove it LOL idk how you prove stuff on here i'm not much of a forum chick as you can see.. since I did one of the "forum don'ts."sublime wrote:jenniferschecter wrote: I'm not a troll ya douche. I still don't know if you are real, honestly. But the reason why people are posting that is that you have a combination of things that most people on here would say that you shouldn't do.
Although because this site is one of the top google results for law school and there are people in your situation that are definitely real, I try to give the benefit of the doubt.
It makes me look stupid on occasion, but fuck it.
Seriously though, retake.
Damn. I will really consider what you're saying. PS love your ASAP avatar.

If you're looking for the personal help, you might check back with St. John's. Often pre-law advisors will work with alumni as well as current students.jenniferschecter wrote: I feel way behind because I'm out of college so had no advisor to guide me.
