NYU + RTK / Penn + Toll / Harvard

Post by sassybassy » Mon Mar 17, 2014 10:32 pm

Hey guys. I'm a heavily infrequent poster, but I would love some advice. I am interviewing for Toll and RTK in the next coming weeks. If offered, is either scholarship worth choosing over Harvard with ~$35K in grant aid? I am interested in public interest/policy work but would love to clerk first.

I think its hard to not take H with 35k aid. Toll isn't even full tuition so I don't think its worth it in this case. RTK is nice but you need to factor in NYC COL. I'm inclined to say H is an easy choice here but I haven't ran the numbers for COA.

TCR is No. Withdrawal from all schools but Yale (if still pending) and enjoy your 3-year stay in Cambridge at Harvard Law

Voted H, unless you fall in love with RTK. That's an incredible H aid grant.

If you want PI and have the option(s), I'd take either of the specialized scholarships over H. The decreased debt and greater institutional support are worth it.

EDIT: Assuming that's 35k total over three years. If it's 35k/yr then maybe Harvard.

Maybe I missed it but is that $35k total or per year? Seems like $35k total vs. NYU full ride wouldn't necessarily be an "easy" decision in my book.

Thanks for the advice guys! Keep it coming. That's $35k a year at Harvard.

In this case, H unless you have a really good reason to pick RTK (this would have to be highly specific to your own personal situation like have a husband/wife already living near NYU, etc.). Either decision is defensible, but in a vacuum, H wins here.

If you're serious about clerking, H. If not, you can't make a bad decision here.

I accidentally voted for penn - meant to vote harvard. Great options, I would choose harvard in your situation and I am incredibly debt averse
