as of yet, not really. I pretty much have ruled out the other two schools i have been admitted to so far.KatyMarie wrote:Do you have other options in between?

If you want biglaw, Duke at sticker but it's not desirable. If you have non-prestigious choices in mind, and they're within New Jersey, then Rutgers.

Yeah, it definitely depends on your goals (and how much $ Duke gives you), but it would help if you could amend your OP with as much of the info from the stickied post as possible.

How on earth are you going to do Duke with only 210k in loans. Did you just multiply the current tuition by 3 and then assume 18k in living expenses and multiply that by 3?mydasmarie wrote: 2. Duke for three years: 210k IF NO SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE (should hear back about any money by April 1st)
FINANCING: loans.
You're going to have interest accruing on those loans. You're going to have tuition increases all 3 years. You're going to have origination fees. You're going to have extra interest building up while you prep for the bar, take the bar, and wait your start date at work. LST's extimate of 250k is closer to the mark, but its going to be even higher due to tuition increases.

i should perhaps phrase what i would like from this post in another way: does it make ANY financial sense to pay more than 250,000 in student loans when an option for under 50,000 is available. Yes, Duke is a top 10 school...but is this even an option?
my gut is telling me no. I can easily pay off 50k in loans over 10 years, but Duke's is 5x this amount.

Duke at sticker is a very bad deal regardless of what you've got going on at Rutgers. Duke with 15k/yr. is still a bad deal. The only way to pay off 200k in loans is biglaw, and 40% of the 2012 and 2013 classes aren't in biglaw.
And Rutgers with any debt is questionable. Its LST stats are bad. You've basically got a 50/50 chance of finding full-time legal work.
The best answer is to retake and try again or find another career. The job market is flooded in oversupply and tuition prices are outrageous.

I'm wondering how it took until the 10th reply to tell you to retake. Retake.

Duke only recently started mailing out scholarship offers, so I'm wondering if you already got a letter saying "zero" or are you just assuming you'll get nothing?
