Full Ride at Wake vs GW
I'm not entirely sure what area of law I want to practice but I am interested in public policy and possibly eventually getting into politics. Don't care where I practice and big law is not a major goal. The scholarship at wake isn't conditional, I just can't fail out. GW has accepted me but I have yet to hear back regarding $. 164 lsat and 3.8 gpa from a state school. Published research and excellent letters. Leadership experience and many undergrad awards. I have some money (around 30-40k saved) but other than that I would have to take out loans.

If you want politics an ivy/prestigious school is practically a must. (btw, more and more politicians are doing MBA'S rather than JD'S.)
Conventional wisdom is sit out this cycle, get a job, study and kill the LSAT in june/sept. Your 3.8 is enviable, because with a high enough LSAT that puts you in HYS/Hamilton/Butler territory.

Yea better to re-take the debate on TLS is whether to pay like 1/2 or 1/4 at lower t-14 sticker or full ride at #15-20 - beyond those options your just going to here lots of re-take. I agree with that sentiment to mind you but if you MUST go this year take the full-ride at Wake and work your tail off because your going to be in for a rough ride come OCI and/or 3L.

Just FYI in 2012 out of 122 students Wake Forest Numbers were as follows
7 Fed Clerkships
8 500+ firm
6 250-500
9 100-250
6 50-100
In other words 15 people "made it" that is Big Law or Fed. Clerk which would turn into Big Law. 15 out of 122 the rest quasi-made it with 50+ firm jobs so if you think you want to take your chances have at it. But I think you'll be glad you took the year to work and study hard raise your LSAT 3 points and get a full ride to #18 or enjoy half tuition at number #16 and #15 and or go to #13 and #12 at about 80% cost. All those options are far superior for what it's worth. In any case good luck my friend and feel free to PM me for more info.

From someone who passed up a modest Duke scholarship for a full ride at a school ranked significantly under Wake…the joy of having no debt means that on payday the check is ALL yours! Every month that $1500 goes in your purse and not to an overpriced law school debt.
Take this from someone who works with dozens of associates who all make a very nice salary but are burdened with debt. Now is the time to cash in your good grades for a debt free career.

You shouldn't go to law school if you want to get into politics. You should go to law school to practice law.

retake in June to hit LSAT medians
Let us know your offer from GW when you get it. GW at near-sticker wouldn't be worth consideration.

Outside of T14, everything is regional. T20 is arbitrary. Assuming youre paying next to nothing in tuition and don't want bl/fc,PrideandGlory1776 wrote:Yea better to re-take the debate on TLS is whether to pay like 1/2 or 1/4 at lower t-14 sticker or full ride at #15-20 - beyond those options your just going to here lots of re-take.
If you want to work in Arizona, ASU/UA are fine. Florida? UF/FSU are fine. Utah? UU/BYU are fine. North Carolina? UNC/Wake are fine.
OCI is pretty much just for biglaw. If you attend a regional school, you should go in assuming it isn't going to happen.I agree with that sentiment to mind you but if you MUST go this year take the full-ride at Wake and work your tail off because your going to be in for a rough ride come OCI and/or 3L.
