UT Austin, Utah or ASU
UT Austin - probably sticker, haven't got packet yet.
ASU - Full tuition scholarship
Utah - Close to full tuition
Don't really care too much where I end up, just want to have a decent job and make good money. But I also want to be responsible with my decision.
3.2 168 - taken lsat twice
Financing with loans and possibly some family help.

From utah, wife has a business here so she would pay for everything so it would be zero cost. Arizona state would have in state tuition but I would have to pay col there which would be probably 15k per year. Texas would be around 175k for all three years I imagine. It is hard to estimate how much she will make though, and how much assistance from family I will get. I am indifferent as to what type of law I want to work, just want to make 100k a year at some point. Will be financing most debt. 3.2 168 lsat. Took lsat twice and took every practice test available, most of them twice, as well as a prep course so not sure I could raise it. I have ties in utah and California. Still waiting on usc and ucla. Held at northwestern and priority waitlist at gtown, unlikely I will get into either.

You're unlikely to make 100K from those schools so I would say either temper your expectations or don't bother with law school.whjohnso444 wrote:From utah, wife has a business here so she would pay for everything so it would be zero cost. Given your ties Utah is the only school that makes sense but more likely than not it would take quite a while to get to the point where you're making 100K, if you even get to that point.
A Utah resident with very similar numbers got in to Georgetown off the waitlist (I believe with 20K a year as well) last cycle so all hope is not lost there.

OP. Texas is the best choice but you will need to be in the top 1/3 of the class to secure big law. The economy of Texas is only getting better and UT owns the state.BigZuck wrote:You're unlikely to make 100K from those schools so I would say either temper your expectations or don't bother with law school.whjohnso444 wrote:From utah, wife has a business here so she would pay for everything so it would be zero cost. Re: UT Austin, Utah or ASU
From what i have read on law school transparency the 75th private sector salary at utah is 100k and the median private sector salary at Texas is 160k. I understand many graduates don't report their salaries, but are these numbers wildly off? Also, even if I got into gtown would it be that much better than texas considering the high COL?

At Utah you only know that something like 11% of the class is getting 100Kwhjohnso444 wrote:From what i have read on law school transparency the 75th private sector salary at utah is 100k and the median private sector salary at Texas is 160k. At UT you only know that something like 19% of the class is getting 160k
It's not easy to place high enough in the class to be in striking distance of that
