University of Richmond ($$), WF ($), W&M
Hey guys,
I'm trying to decide between Richmond, Wake and William & Mary. I'm looking to work in the Virginia area, don't really care for big law. COL is nothing, my family is helping and I am selling a townhouse I own that will keep me going for 3 years, not to mention my SO will be working.
Richmond has offered me $30k/year, so my cost is around $10k per year (I know it may go up)
Wake has offered me $20K/year, so my cost is around $20K per year
William and Mary is offering me nothing, so it's sticker
Unfortunately I'm out of retakes so it's not an option.
Any suggestions would be welcome!

Richmond or Wake. Probably Richmond since you want VA. W&M at sticker is a no-go.

I think retaking and reapplying next year might definitely be worth your while. Not sure exactly what your situation is but law school is a huge investment and law schools are not going anywhere if you think you can improve and get more money from higher ranked schools you may want to consider that possibility.

W&M without money makes no sense in this situation. Try to negotiate. W&M at Wake's cost is probably your best option if you can get them to give you money. Otherwise, I'm not sure going to Wake would keep you from getting a job in VA. Upside of Richmond is being able to network and work in Richmond while you are in school if that's the city you want to end up in.Winston1984 wrote:Richmond or Wake. Was in this exact position years ago. Chose W&M. Happy with my choice. Dont really see how sticker is a bad option, but that is me assuming that is IN STATE sticker. If it is out of state, follow the money. Try and make it so they cant snatch away the scholarship if you have a bad first semester.

Luckily both wake and Richmond are giving me the money with no stips so that helps. Thanks for the advice. I'm visiting all of them this week so that may be a factor.anan wrote:Was in this exact position years ago. Chose W&M. Happy with my choice. W&M at sticker meaning in-state or out-of-state? Used to be a big difference but not sure what their tuition is now.

Enjoy Richmond
Also, I see through your "I'm all outta retakes!" lie.
Retake. You really shouldn't be paying any tuition to a school like Richmond.

You seem to be in a somewhat similar situation to me.
I do not think William and Mary is worth full price at all.
Richmond is likely your best bet.
