Seat Deposit Question!!

Post by CaveCanem » Fri Mar 14, 2014 2:20 pm

After a TLS search on the topic didn't turn up any results I thought I'd ask, what are the chances that you will lose your spot at a school if you don't put down a seat deposit? I'm sure I'm in the same boat as some of you. I applied to a large amount of schools and still haven't heard back from them all (with all applications out by January). Would not putting a seat deposit down at a school still give me a good shot of enrollment if i choose to down the road? And doesn't negotiating scholarships after the seat deadline lose a bit of its luster since schools know most students aren't willing to put down three or four seat deposits? Thanks people.

If you don't put down a deposit I'm pretty sure they assume you aren't attending and you lose your space, as this is how many people decline offers of admission. You can ask for an extension of the deadline (they may say no, but you can ask).
