None of those options are particularly good. You need to negotiate the hell out of GW and get them to up their scholarship. If you can get them to double it, and then live at home so there's negligible COL, you could get it down to around $135,000 debt at graduation. Then it might be worth it. Still would give me the heebie-jeebies, though.

You may want to adjust those numbers. The LST COA figures include accrued interest and origination fees, which you won't be paying on money you're not borrowing because of the schollies. Use the Georgetown Law debt calculator to figure out the true COA.

Well, the LST COA figures aren't factoring in tuition and COL increases, so his COA estimates are actually slightly low. Factoring that in, GW would be $260k and Emory would be $195k. But it's all close enough, and it doesn't affect the calculus that what he would be paying would be way too much.

Commuting to Foggy Bottom from Vienna + 30 min driving sounds like my own personal hell on earth.

That's also a whole lot of debt for GWU's employment outlook. Mason's outcome/$ ([%employed - %school_employed]/$) is marginally better, but only 40% of grads get Lawyer Jobs.

Fordham has a worse outlook than GW. Temple and Yeshiva aren't bad in terms of outcome/$ but they're both competing with heavy hitters in their home markets.

Emory is bad for East Coast. Boulder is worse.

By the way, is it worth considering a school's reputation in a particular area of practice? Does it significantly impact job searching after graduation?

The schools you mentioned aren't players in the areas you mentioned.
