Loyola Chicago ($$$) vs. Riding out UWisconsin Waitlist

Post by kjm4815 » Sun Mar 09, 2014 6:32 pm

I got 16,000/year no stip. at Loyola Chicago, and am waitlisted at UW. I'd be happy to work in Wisconsin or Chicago, but I need help deciding how long I should wait out the Wisconsin waitlist before making a final choice. Wisconsin has always been my #1 choice, but I would love to be in Chicago too. At what point in the cycle does it get unlikely that you'll get off the waitlist? I'd like to have enough time to settle in and find an apartment wherever I'm going. Is Loyola that much worse than UWisconsin?! HELP!

TCR is to retake. Only 16k off at Loyola is still too expensive, and anything close to sticker for Wisconsin is too much. What are your stats? Where would you rather work?

You definitely need to retake... It could make such a huge difference for you.

157, 3.5. I retook once, and took two prep classes, but only studied for 2.5 months total between both retakes. I honestly don't care if I practice in Chicago or Wisconsin but I would have to take an entire year off if I wanted to retake in time. I have the $ for law school and a few connections in both Chicago and Wisconsin for the area I want to practice in, but I guess what I want to know is how big of a difference do these two school make in terms of job opportunities?

If you have the connections why do you care about job opportunities?

Retake. No one should be settling for these numbers in this economy.
