Help me choose please!
UCLA -- no $
USC -- still waiting on scholarship info
vs.
UC Irvine -- 40K a year
Pepperdine -- full scholarship with stipend
what would you all do?

I would retake or not go to law school unless USC pulled through big time.

It depends on your goals. I think anyone who can really help you is going to go ask, "Why are you going to law school?" "What's your end goal?"

Re: Help me choose please!
UC-I's bar pass rate fell off big time. no idea where that school will end up = too much risk.
Pepperdine I couldn't stand for the conduct standards.
So given the choices, SC/UCLA.

Unless SC comes through or you can negotiate with UCLA, I'd take UCI. Yes, the bar passage rate dropped, but UCI had only 71 first time takers while most other non TTT/TTTT schools had ~200-300. UCI has continued to place decent in mid-biglaw in Socal. Unless the scholly has poor stips and/or SC/UCLA come through, take the money at UCI and run.
Edit: In case it wasn't obvious, 71 first time test takers leads to a huge sampling error. If UCI had 10 more people pass the bar they would have had the highest pass rate in the state. I'm pretty sure the statistical significance there is pretty weak.

i would say you have a decent shot at USC with $$. UCI 40k a year is no joke you obviously have great credentials.

I don't know, the no money from UCLA suggests that USC won't come through with much, if anything. Aren't they considered basically peer schools? (i.e the BU/BC of the west)kobe1020 wrote:i would say you have a decent shot at USC with $$. UCI 40k a year is no joke you obviously have great credentials.

Peer schools? Yes. Similar coffers? No.TheSpanishMain wrote:I don't know, the no money from UCLA suggests that USC won't come through with much, if anything. Despite being ranked 17 and 18, USC is easier to get into and gives more money than UCLA comparatively.

I'd say UCI right now with 120K, but as others have said, wait for USC's offer.
Is it weird to get that much from UCI and nothing from UCLA? UCLA should give OP something with negotiation, no?

Well the exact same thing happened to me, so not that weird apparently. I'm hoping negotiations will pay off. I haven't heard back from USC yet, so I'm waiting for that.Otunga wrote:I'd say UCI right now with 120K, but as others have said, wait for USC's offer.
