NYU or Duke for CA Biglaw?
Assume sticker at both schools. I have CA ties and would strongly prefer to work in CA. However, I would settle for Biglaw elsewhere, so I'm not necessarily willing to lower my Biglaw chances just for a shot of working in CA.

Placement at NYU is obviously marginally better. I'm sure sticker for total COA at NYU is significantly more than sticker at Duke though. Do you know what the difference is?

About $30-40k depending on your living situation.Turtledove wrote:Placement at NYU is obviously marginally better. I'm sure sticker for total COA at NYU is significantly more than sticker at Duke though. Do you know what the difference is?
OP, why are these the two options? I'm assuming you could get a significant scholarship at UCLA/USC if you are dead set on CA. What about Berkeley?

If you're super-duper Biglaw or bust, and both are at sticker, NYU might be worth it. But why would you assume both will be at sticker? Duke has thrown around a ton of money the last two cycles. If you get into NYU, you can expect serious cash from Duke.
For non-NYC Biglaw: Duke w/ $$$ > NYU at sticker
