In order to receive the best feedback in this forum, please provide as much of the following information in your original post as possible:
-The schools you are considering
-The total Cost of Attendance (COA) of each. COA = cost of tuition + fees + books + cost of living (COL) + accumulated interest - scholarships. Here is a helpful calculator.
-How you will be financing your COA, i.e. loans, family, or savings
-Where you are from and where you want to work, and other places where you have significant ties (if any)
-Your general career goals
-Your LSAT/GPA numbers
-How many times you have taken the LSAT

I would probably take the bulletgiantsfan564789 wrote:I was accepted with a half tuition scholarship to Fordham, and was also accepted to Georgetown at sticker. If those were your only 2 options, which would you choose.
All responses greatly appreciated, thanks!
Eta: and by that I mean I would either retake or not go to law school.

How can you know this early in the cycle whether any of your choices will be at sticker?
Come back in March when the finaid process has had the chance to run itself out

Re: Fordham w/ $$ or Georgetown
Both choices are bad, but I'd personally take GULC. Either one, you're definitely going to need biglaw, and while neither one gives you anything close to a "sure thing" in that regard, GULC is more likely to get you biglaw than Fordham is.
You should almost definitely retake, though. And that's without even knowing what your LSAT score is, or how many times you've taken it (hint hint.)

Georgetown hasn't sent out scholarship info yet. How do you know you aren't getting one?
This thread is very premature.

Re: Fordham w/ $$ or Georgetown
It's definitely not irrelevant, because you may be staring a third choice (i.e, retaking) right in the face. In terms of achieving your "high paying job" goal, you're significantly more likely to get that from basically any school above GULC.giantsfan564789 wrote: - they are about the same, w/ Fordham being 25k less per year now because of the scholarship.
-I'm taking out loans.
-I'm from NY, and want to work in NY, however I would happily work in DC for the right job. I would not mind living there.
-I want any high paying job. (100k+)
-Do not want to disclose gpa/lsat numbers, as I feel it is irrelevant for the question I'm asking.
-(Same goes for this question)
Any responses greatly appreciated.

Re: Fordham w/ $$ or Georgetown
So you want big law. Did you apply to Cornell? If you get GULC, you have a chance at other T14s. The options in the OP aren't really worth it if you're gunning for big law.giantsfan564789 wrote:- they are about the same, w/ Fordham being 25k less per year now because of the scholarship.Nova wrote:giantsfan564789 wrote:Alright, so not one person who actually answered my question...hah

False dichotomygiantsfan564789 wrote:No that did not directly answer my question. If you look at the question I asked, I specifically gave a scenario in which there were 2 options. If you're taking out loans, neither.
If you want a high paying job, neither.
Getting a high paying job from either is theoretically possible, but the odds are much too stacked against you. Especially considering your approach toward taking important tests.

People keep trying this strategy on TLS. It never works.giantsfan564789 wrote:Really just want to know which of the 2 choices is better, I have no interest in don't go at all or retake the lsat opinions. I just want to know which option of the 2 is preferable. Now that I've clarified this, hopefully I can get more answers that are more along the lines of what I'm looking for.
Thanks

I'm going to either cut off my right hand or cut off my left hand. I don't want to give out a whole lot of information to you guys but if it helps you tell me which hand to cut off- I'm right-handed
Thanks

Re: Fordham w/ $$ or Georgetown
No. If you want big law, go to a school that gives you a 50%+ shot at it. If you want PI/gov, go to a school with a great LRAP. I don't understand why people call TLS elitist when it really comes down to job #s. There are many other viable options other than HYS.giantsfan564789 wrote:midwest17 wrote:People keep trying this strategy on TLS. Yeah I guess you're right. I guess choose the better option is useless question on a site where every single person gonna say don't go at all unless its hys.
Thanks for nothin' guys!

Your either going to owe 200k+ with a slight chance at big law
or
Your going to owe 180k+ with pretty much no chance at making over 100k.
That's why we are telling you to retake. If you want to be drowning in debt the rest of your life, go right ahead. Flip a fuckin coin and don't take anyone's advice

Don't limit yourself, bro. You're better than this.
In all seriousness, wait and see if you get Cornell. More generous scholarships, more justifiable at higher cost for NYC biglaw.
