Umich v UVA v Duke
So far have only gotten into UVA and Duke but am a michigan native, have a home near ann arbor and want to work in michigan after school. I know that UVA and Duke have been getting better employment numbers but doesn't Michigan still make sense as the best choice given equal cost?

If working in Michigan is something you're positive about (and it is clearly a number one priority), then yes, UMich is a much better choice than UVA or Duke.

Little premature to make one of these threads don't you think?

Muffin, that is fair. but i have started thinking about it and was wondering if i get into umich if it would be a clearly best choice if I want to work in MIchigan or if the lower employment numbers in Michigan from UVA and Duke are only from self selection or also from not going to Umich

As of right now you have no idea what COA is at any of these schools though (and have yet to get into Mich). It is impossible to evaluate until you know the costs of each school. If you want to work in Michigan than Michigan would very likely be your best option at equal cost, although this also depends on your other priorities.

Wait until you have CoA info and acceptance info before trying to weigh things in the abstract.

Are you absolutely positively sure you want to be in Mich? If so, Mich is a good choice. You'll probably have options outside of Mich too if you want.

Come back in March with CoA's. also, consider Northwestern and Uchicago. If NU is cheaper for you (larger scholarships than Mich usually) and you want work at a large firm, it could be a good option. Then again, if you can avoid CoL costs by staying in Ann Arbir, I think its a clear winner other than HYS and maybe UChicago.

As others have said, this depends on 2 things. Cost and where you want to work.
