That wasn't intended as a stab at the South, mind you. Just National Jurist and their incessant rankings horseshit.

Haha I know, but we like it when it benefits us. But ya, they'll do whatever it takes to stay relevant.

Austin really is 180 in every way for a college student.
Eta: NYU #50, CLS unranked. Sup.

Hey don't get me wrong, I'm from the South and I love it here, but try convincing someone from the NE to come down to Austin.

Austin is not really southern. At all.Mab2013 wrote:Hey don't get me wrong, I'm from the South and I love it here, but try convincing someone from the NE to come down to Austin.
Very liberal, cheap, with tons and tons of places to get drunk. It's awesome.

Austin isn't like pretty much anywhere else in "The South"Mab2013 wrote:Hey don't get me wrong, I'm from the South and I love it here, but try convincing someone from the NE to come down to Austin.

Everyone in the NE loves Austin. It's basically Boston with better weather and less racism.Mab2013 wrote:Hey don't get me wrong, I'm from the South and I love it here, but try convincing someone from the NE to come down to Austin.

Interesting . It's just that, as a Southerner, everyone I speak to from the a North bashes us. But Austin must be special.laotze wrote:Everyone in the NE loves Austin. That's because when we say "The South" derogatorily we are referring to El Paso, Tucson, Columbia, and all of Mississippi.Mab2013 wrote:Interesting . And that's how you mangle statistics horrificly to convey a completely wrong impression.
A rough analogy: I offer you $5 to play Russian Roulette.
Not playing Russian Roulette: $0. Median number of deaths per player: 0.
Playing Russian Roulette: $5. Median number of deaths per player: 0.
Obviously, your best option is to play Russian Roulette.

It's pretty simple actually. Low cost of living = making up for the difference in income from big law in bigger cities. Stop being so cynical .

I'll give you one chance to look at LST to see why using median private sector salary is a bad idea.Mab2013 wrote:It's pretty simple actually. Low cost of living = making up for the difference in income from big law in bigger cities. Stop being so cynical .

Right, because 20% chance of biglaw with better COL is so clearly superior to 50% chance of biglaw with higher COL. And because Vandy so clearly places better in southern markets than T6, right?Mab2013 wrote:It's pretty simple actually.
