Huge LSAT Jump Right Before Attending Law School.
Hi everyone. I hope that this has been put in the correct thread.
I am currently planning on attending a lower T14 with $$ (about half-tuition covered) this coming fall.
I applied with a 171 (retake) and a 3.45 gpa.
I now have a 3.55 GPA and just received my June LSAT score. A 177.
I am still on the waitlist for Columbia and Chicago.
If you were in my shoes what would you do? Go ahead and go to the same school? Wait a year? Hope to get off a waitlist?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Er, HYS won't happen. Full rides with that GPA won't happen at the t14. You may get a tad more money below CCN but as far as reporting LSATs, nothing changes for them.
You will almost surely get in CCN next cycle but that could still happen now. Play it out this cycle with the WL and see if you prefer tour current options to CCN with 60kish

Bolded is untrue, OP has a great shot at a full ride at NU with their ED program.sinfiery wrote:Er, HYS won't happen. Full rides with that GPA won't happen at the t14. You may get a tad more money below CCN but as far as reporting LSATs, nothing changes for them.

Oh, NU ED would definitely be worth it for a new cycle. I'm thinking if they accept a 3.55, a lot would depend on softs too.

This is a similar cycle and the UVA money was boosted because of instate and NYU for needaid

Don't know about that. Only one person with a GPA on LSN that low got a full ride at NU this year. Almost all recipients have GPAs of 3.8+. Looks like OP would have a good shot at one of the $120K scholarships, though.crumpetsandtea wrote:Bolded is untrue, OP has a great shot at a full ride at NU with their ED program.sinfiery wrote:Er, HYS won't happen. With the new score, there is no reason not to at least see if CC will let you in off their waitlists, perhaps with some money. Once you figure that out, you'll have to consider whether it is worth foregoing a potential year of 160k biglaw income (plus bonus, plus being a year behind in raises, plus a year of networking opportunity costs) to consider scholarships at a lower T14 next year.

Thanks so much for your input, everyone.
So there is definitely no chance for Harvard?

Unless you're really special, no chance. Goodluck.

There's a chance for Harvard, but it's a pretty slim one. A few non-URMs with GPAs in the 3.50-3.59 range were admitted this year. You'll want to submit very early on in the cycle.
Have you already graduated? Can you take some second-term summer courses and bump your GPA up to 3.6 between now and the time you apply? Chances would go up quite a bit then.
