Harvard Sticker v. UCLA Full Tuition + 10k housing stipend

Post by HighLife » Fri Jun 14, 2013 11:26 pm

Not sure what to do here. I have no debt and not entirely sure what I want to do with a law degree yet. Thinking maybe sports law, or big law but that all may change. I'm from California and want to end up here but have no problem moving for a while. Any insight?

Without any undergraduate debt, LIPP will cover whatever turn you take in your career. Hit Harvard up.

I don't really think there's a wrong option here. As long as you're completely down for being a lawyer for the next 4-10 years, Harvard's probably the best option. That said, ties to California + UCLA for almost free -- if debt bothers you, this is a cool option too.

Personally, I'd take Harvard.

This

There is something to be said for graduating LS with zero debt (given an SA)

But because you don't know what you want, i, too, would pick Harvard

If biglaw is in the equation for things you want to do after law school, Harvard is a no brainer.

Wouldn't quite say that it's a "no-brainer" or "not even close".

He could Melanie Barnett this thing if he's not a prestige whore. Lots of laymen would certainly understand. That having been said, Harvard's shadow is really that big; when you get into Harvard you go to Harvard.

If UCLA was instead Berkeley we might have some real conversation here. Go to Harvard!

Given those 2 choices, Harvard. No Stanford or Berk w/ scholly options?
