Do not attend UCLA at that price.
Retake for $ at Boalt or $$$ at UCLA.

Retake. It'll be worth it.

Are you a splitter, OP? If not, there may be much to be gained from a retake.

I am. I have a 3.9 and a lower-than-it-should-be LSAT. I am considering retaking now, though it would be very painful.whereskyle wrote:Are you a splitter, OP? If not, there may be much to be gained from a retake.

If I don't improve, and assuming I go somewhere in the fall, what is my best option? Is sticker at Penn worth it?

It will actually be the best decision you could ever make. That is one sweet GPA and more points on the LSAT can give you significant money at UCLA, a t14 or even HYS territory.mk87 wrote:I am. You're a reverse splitter. Please, please retake.mk87 wrote:I am. I have a 3.9 and a lower-than-it-should-be LSAT. I am considering retaking now, though it would be very painful.whereskyle wrote:Are you a splitter, OP? If not, there may be much to be gained from a retake.

Have you done any prep for the June test? Extremely late to start now.mk87 wrote:If I don't improve, and assuming I go somewhere in the fall, what is my best option? Is sticker at Penn worth it?
What was your prep like the first time around? It might be better to set your sights on October retake.

Yes, Penn is the financially better option if you are open to working biglaw in NYC/Penn.mk87 wrote:If I don't improve, and assuming I go somewhere in the fall, what is my best option? Is sticker at Penn worth it?
But retake and retake again if it doesn't improve at first.

Seriously, retake. Your gf will get another year at her job, you will get far better outcomes in terms of schools and $$$.

If you're not interested in retaking, I would be willing to switch lives with you and do it. You can have my cycle, and I will take your GPA.sinfiery wrote:You're a reverse splitter. Not as painful as your loan payments will be.mk87 wrote:I am. I have a 3.9 and a lower-than-it-should-be LSAT. I am considering retaking now, though it would be very painful.

Retake is the best answer. Glad you're open to it.
For speculations sake, Penn is worth sticker way, way more than UCLA is worth what you'd be paying. Retake aside that would be my vote.

Re: UCLA with 30k or Penn at sticker
OP here. I've decided not to wait another year to attend law school. I don't think it is the right decision for me life-wise, and I'm not sure it makes sense when you consider the lost earnings associated with beginning work as a lawyer a year later in life. That said, I am going to retake the LSAT in June because I think that my score can be improved. Assuming my score is raised, and understanding that it will probably be too late to get much if any $ from Penn, I think that I could get a better offering from UCLA.
So, hypothetically UCLA with $$$ =/> Penn at sticker? Considering of course that I already have a life I enjoy in Los Angeles.

I left this thread happy to see that for once OP was going to make the rational decision and retake, wait a year, and enjoy far better options.mk87 wrote:OP here. Re: UCLA with 30k or Penn at sticker
What makes you think UCLA will raise your scholarship just because you get a higher LSAT score over the summer? You will have already deposited, so you have no leverage. If you aren't open to reapplying, and you are committed to attending one school, I don't understand your plan, except to get off WL's.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
