Duke ($) v Vanderbilt ($$) v Alabama ($$$)
White male with a 169 LSAT 3.59 GPA. I've been waitlisted everywhere in the top 10 below the HYS tier, so I'm down to deciding between Duke, Vanderbilt, and Alabama. Out of these schools, Duke is offering 18k annually, Vandy is offering 27k a year, and UA is offering full tuition (I'm a resident of Alabama). All costs not covered by grant based aid would be paid for with loans. I'm not really positive on the direction that I want to go in as far as a career. I'm probably leaning big law/federal PI down the road.
I'm leaning toward Duke, but I wanted to know what you guys thought.

If you're dead-set on biglaw then Duke, but if you're debt adverse and would be fine with not doing biglaw, I would do Bama.

Total CoA is like $215k at Duke and $165k at Vanderbilt.
Duke gives you a much better shot at what you want

But at $200k loans I'd drop out if you don't get a biglaw SA 2L year
And you have to be committed to that

I think Vandy is pretty much out of it.
I am fairly debt adverse and the extremely high COA at Duke is troubling. However, I'm concerned that if I'm not in the top 10% or so of my class at UA I won't be able to find a job at all after graduation.

You have a good chance at finding a job out of Alabama, but it probably won't be at a big firm.

If you're not top 10% you can still get a legal job, but it's likely to be a small firm doing small firm shit.
If you go to Duke I'd really drop out if you don't get a 2L SA
