3.44, 166 with strong softs (tfa) and I wrote a Why Michigan/recently submitted a LOCI.
Michigan is without a doubt my top choice and I would commit on the spot if admitted. Will my gpa/lsat be held against at this stage of the application process and could my strong desire to attend help balance that out? I want to go to Michigan but I also don't want to scramble and end up in a not so great living situation at one of my backup choices. Whats does TLS think?

I don't think a strong desire to attend and tfa are going to have a great impact on your chances. A higher LSAT score will.
