153 LSAT and 3.5 gpa from fl - where should I go/apply
I have applied to several schools. I got a 153 on the LSAT and have a 3.5 gpa (should be higher when I graduate). Where should I apply to school, and where should I hope to end up?

+1. Your GPA is decent... don't miss out on opportunities by wasting it on a 153.nmop_apisdn wrote:Please retake your LSAT.

No other options other than retake, especially being in FL. UF & FSU are out.

There is no law school in Florida (or anywhere else, for that matter) worth going to that will take a 153 LSAT. If you can't get in-state at UF or FSU, don't go.

You should not go to law school with a 153 on the LSAT, unless you care to become a slave to debt.

With the studying you could do from now until June, you could have a shot at 170+ and the T14. If you aren't willing to do the work it takes to get a great LSAT, you aren't going to succeed at any reputable law school.

Not necessarily true... but your point about retaking is.RhymesLikeDimes wrote:With the studying you could do from now until June, you could have a shot at 170+ and the T14. If you aren't willing to do the work it takes to get a great LSAT, you aren't going to succeed at any reputable law school.

Well, I guess it's not entirely true. But I just get sick of hearing "I'm not going to bother with the LSAT, I'll just graduate top-5 and outwork everyone later." If you don't have the motivation to spend 3 months studying to go from TTT dump to a decent T30, you do not have the motivation to make it from TTT to a decent job.

Been saying this for years, couldn't agree more. If you really want to be a reputable attorney, you'll retake.RhymesLikeDimes wrote:Well, I guess it's not entirely true. How are your softs? Those really do matter. I have been accepted to numerous schools with several full scholarships to top 50,40, and 30. I still have hope of getting T20 and T 14. This place is not kind to people like us.

What are your softs? You drastically outperformed your numbers in a way I've never seen before.hopingfor160 wrote:How are your softs? Those really do matter. ETA: ah just realized you're a URM. Still a pretty good cycle for your numbers but not as radical as I first thought. FYI you should probably retake too.

you underrate that if one tries and fails on a standardized test, they can only blame themselves. why would one bother with trying and taking responsibility for their actions when they can go to a TTTT, never work, then blame their failures on racism, affirmative action, anti-semitism, zionists, democrats, republicans, women, men, being a minority or not being a minority. the trademark of tttt students is largely people who are always right, and when they're not, it's someone else's fault.romothesavior wrote:Been saying this for years, couldn't agree more. OP, presumably not URM, has no hope of the kind of cycle you have had thus far, and you need to retake your LSAT as well.
edit: scooped.

dude u've been accepted bec ur above a 75th percentile and a URM. if u got a 160 you'd be in Harvard. i can see a good argument for there being affirmative action, but the odds of OP himself being able to become a black male are not great. this isn't tropic thunder.hopingfor160 wrote:How are your softs? I want to start a retake success stories thread where people can post how retaking got them a free ride to their local regional, a chance at the t14 with money, etc. The problem is that the only appropriate forum would be the LSAT Prep, and it doesn't seem like reverse splitters spend much time there.
