Houston/Midwest T2

I wouldn't have any debt thanks to my family but I'm not sure if I should go even then. They have decent employment numbers but 150k is a lot for a 43.8% chance of making 58k+, which I would be very happy to be making.

U of H not a bad option if ur graduating with 0 debt and are ok with a career in Houston. Obviously retaking and attending UT would be preferable if u want to practice in Texas.

Your parents are rich and willing to foot the bill so go wherever you want. YOLO.

If you want a job in Houston and have ties I think UH is a fine choice. Retake to go to UT seems to be the correct answer however. Your opportunities would be much better.

Are your parents "burn 150K just to see what the color of burning money looks like" rich? or are they "tap out our retirement savings and take another home equity loan because more education is always the answer" rich?" If closer to the second than the first, don't waste the time or money.

Those numbers also are not very reflective of your actual chances at employment anymore because this year this year they cut the class size down a pretty good amount. My 1L class has around 225 students.

Closer to the second, they'd be selling property to pay for my school. They seem to be ok with it but I feel quite uncomfortable with them paying such a high amount. I'm still waiting to hear back from other schools but would going to Mizzou or Nebraska at 45-75k be a better option. I'm from Oklahoma but do not want to live/practice in the state.

Missouri/Nebraska sounds like a bad decision especially with no ties to either state. Did u apply to SMU? They're usually pretty generous with scholarship money.

Yeah that's not a good idea. It's understandable that they'd look at this as a no-brainer investment- but 150K is too steep a price to pay for Houston. Do you want to practice in Houston?

Wouldn't get into SMU FT unless I retake and get a point or two higher. I would be perfectly happy practicing in Houston

Have them buy you a Subway franchise instead.

This might be the best advice I have ever read on TLS. Seriously.
