Smallest grant you'd take at HYS over T14 full-ride (poll)

Post by hdivine » Mon Dec 03, 2012 1:23 am

In another post (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 1&t=198734), I asked what the lowest-ranked T14 at full-ride you would choose over Harvard, Yale, or Stanford at sticker price. As there are many people who would not actually pay sticker price at HYS because of grants, I'm interested in the following question:

If you would turn down HYS for a full-ride somewhere else, what's the minimum grant amount (per year) that would sway you back toward HYS?

Like full ride to Chicago or full ride to Georgetown?

I couldn't find a way of designating that without making a poll for every school outside of HYS, which would be overkill. For simplicity sake, just whatever school you would have a full-ride to. Feel free to specify in comment replies.

Per year?

A better pole, I think, would be how would you pay for HYS over full ride at T7-10. Kind of accounts for the COA differences, some of the GULC hate, and the Columbia fetishism.

Gave you a ride over to another forum that seems more appropriate.

I understood the last poll, but I'm not sure if I fully understand this one.

If you were to pick HYS over, say, NYU with a full ride, you're essentially picking ~100% chance of a biglaw job that you have to stay at for 3-4 years minimum instead of a 60% chance at a biglaw job that you can more or less leave whenever you want.

If you're going for the second, a 0k grant should be about as persuasive to you as a 40k grant. Either way, you're definitely going to be in biglaw/LRAP PI for a few years.
