Where Should I ED?
I’m retaking the LSAT in October. I’ve been PT-ing consistently at 171-172, but I’m taking a prep course this weekend and taking off two weeks of work before the test to focus exclusively on studying. My LGPA is a 3.90.
I want to be as strategic as possible about where I use my ED. My dream school is Columbia. Is it realistic to ED there if I score less than a 172, or only if I score a 172 or higher?
Within the T-14 I’m also interested in Chicago, NYU and Michigan. Outside the T-14 I’m looking at UCLA, USC, and BU. If I don’t ED to Columbia, which of these schools should I ED to, and within what range of LSAT scores does it make the most sense to do so?
Thanks so much for your help!

ED UVA if you get a 165 or lower, otherwise don't ED anywhere with that GPA.

Same as above
With that GPA don't ED anywhere. 172 and you'll for sure get one of CCN and lower T14 with good money. With a 170 you still have a good shot everywhere.
DO NOT ED!!!

Really? Not even to Columbia? I know there's a potential to receive less financial aid if I ED, but doesn't it boost one's admissions chances quite a bit?

The boost is really for more for schools like Penn, UVA, GTownn..etc. NYU seems to also give some boost to EDs, but I don't think that the boost for ED is really tht much if anything for Columbia. This is from what I've heard around TLS and seen on LSN. Someone correct if I'm wrong.
But honestly just study as much as possible for the LSAT now because no one can give you any real advice without a real score. Even if you're PTing in the 170s you might only get 160s on test day. This has happened to a lot of people so don't get overconfident.
If you do get 170 or above though, everyone is just gonna tell you to not ED anywhere. HTH and good luck in October. I'll be taking it then as well.

Why? What about Columbia sets it apart for you from NYU, for instance?maggielizer wrote:My dream school is Columbia.

If you get a 170 or above, do not ED anywhere. You will be T6 secure with a 170+/3.9 and you can negotiate for scholarships.
As others have said, only ED if your LSAT is much lower than your PT scores.

Personal preference, honestly. I toured the campus and felt like the atmosphere was right for me. I want to say that I'm a 100% logical person who will make my law school decision strictly on a cost-benefit analysis, but there is absolutely a side of me that just gets giddy at the thought of going to Columbia, and it's hard to ignore.Ti Malice wrote:

That said, everyone seems to be giving very solid (and consistent) advice as far as not ED-ing. I think I'll see what I get on my LSAT and determine what to do from there.
