Loyola vs IUB $ vs UK $$ vs Tulane $ vs ASU
Hey, guys, I need all the help I can get choosing where to go. I have a lot of choices, but have pretty much narrowed it down to 5. I'm interested in Sports and Entertainment Law, will have to move regardless of where I choose (currently in NC), and I'm going to have debt anywhere I'm still considering. Suggestions?
Loyola with no scholly, but they're willing to consider after the first deadline. I love LA and have wanted to move there for a long time.
IUB with $10,000 per year but I'm not sure I want to live in Indiana past law school.
Kentucky with scholly covering the difference between in state and out of state but no hope of Sports and Entertainment. I'm okay with living in Kentucky, but not nearly as keen as LA.
Tulane with $7,500 per year, not willing to negotiate, but strong for Sports Law and I like New Orleans.
ASU just got accepted so I have no idea about scholly, but I have family in Phoenix and it's close to LA...
Advice?
Thank you!

None of the above. If you want to work in LA, you should go to school in LA. Unless you get a substantial scholarship to Loyola, I would not attend any of these schools. The degrees are just not that portable. What is your GPA / LSAT? Would you consider retaking the LSAT and reapplying next year? If you want LA realistically you should target USC / UCLA or something in the T-14.

Thanks, guys. GPA 3.95, LSAT 159. I considered retaking the LSAT, but I've decided against it. I do have connections in the Entertainment and Sports fields plus the benefit of a sports background. I also have a lot of family in Kentucky so that could help me get jobs there. I'm still waiting to hear back from USC, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm also interested in IP or Corporate law, Sports and Entertainment is just my first choice.

Ice Miller in Indy does Sports law, specifically lots of NCAA work bc its HQ is there. If you are set on going this year, IUB might be the best choice. Do you have ties to Indy?

Past experience with standardized tests. I always underperform, no matter how many times I take them. I'd love to have hit 165 like I did on several practice tests, but I don't see it happening. I'm also determined to start law school this fall. I've been out of school for four years working, I'm ready to get started. I do have a full tuition offer at Michigan State, but don't have any interest in living in Michigan ultimately. Waitlisted at GW, Georgetown, UNC, Emory, UMD, Hastings, Wake and a few others so those may come around, but likely to be sticker. I also got into Washington and Lee, but didn't particularly enjoy Lexington, VA when I visited.

No real ties to Indy that I know of.

With no ties, none of these schools are going to get you to LA. If you want to do sports law, you'd have to really hustle to even find anything related to it, even in a secondary market. Like I said before, it exists, but it is hard to get. I know for Ice in Indy that they want people (for all practice groups) who can show that they plan on staying in Indy for the long term.

I figured Loyola was my only shot at actually being in LA, I can make it work at any of the other places, though. I'm also prepared for a hefty amount of legwork no matter what area of law I end up working in. I liked them all when I visited, it's coming down to how much risk I want to take and how much debt I'm willing to shoulder. I notice nobody is keen on Tulane, is there a particular reason? The director of the Sports Law program seems to have some good connections and plans for his students.

Re: Loyola vs IUB $ vs UK $$ vs Tulane $ vs ASU
As an update, I turned down Tulane, Arizona State is offering me $20,000 for next year then the chance for residency and in-state tuition the last two years. I'm leaning towards ASU at this point. Any further advice?
And yes, my GPA was 3.95 with two majors and two minors. Standardized tests are not my friend, but I rock it in the classroom.
