But if you want to stay in Michigan, graduating from UM with 40k of debt is totally reasonable over nearly any option.

I am from Michigan and I would like to stay in the Midwest after law school (either in Michigan or Chicago, really). I haven't really ruled out many options with regard to what kind of job I ultimately want.

Can't go wrong either way. Chicago gives you a slightly better chance at biglaw and I think their revamped LRAP is slightly better if you go the gov/PI route (although you won't have too much in loans anyway). I'd probably visit both choose whichever you like better.

Michigan is essentially free though. And UChi is... a niche taste.
