My god this is the credited question.

I found TFA to be two wasted years surrounded by people I mainly didn't like. There are a lot of self-righteous types who just aren't fun. It also didn't really get me into any law schools my numbers alone wouldn't have, so don't be expecting some kind of massive application boost therefrom.

If you want to teach, do TFA. If you want to be a lawyer, go to Cornell. If you don't know, do TFA, if only because it's better to waste 2 years than $200,000, and maybe by the end you'll know what you want to do with your life.

TITCR. at my HYS, i'd be willing to bet at least 15% of our class did TFA.
That doesn't necessarily mean it is a good soft.
It surely helps your app in tiebreaker scenarios, but for the love of god there are so, so, so many ways to get a better return on your investment of 2 years of time. There is one and only one reason to do Teach For America: You know you want to teach for 2 years, and think you might want to teach for a lot longer than that.

As has been said, it all depends on why you'd do TFA. If it's only just to boost your chances at getting into a more elite school, that's pretty silly. Im actually surprised to learn that other posters are saying it's such a good soft. You already have decent post-grad work experience...

I would think you either defer Cornell for two years to do TFA if it's something you're just dying to do or just go to law school already.
