Michgan Sticker vs WUSTL with scholarship Forum

I have offers from Michigan for the sticker price and Washington University of Saint Louis with a scholarship for 43k/year. Which should I choose?

I am interested in patent/IP law, and want to make over 100k after I graduate. Currently leaning toward WUSTL.

Michigan will give you a better shot at Biglaw than WUSTL, which is probably the only way you're making 100k out of the gate.

similar situation, would love some input. GULC sticker (100K debt bc already have enough for first year) vs. WUSTL 43k/year. Only priority is BIGLAW, preferably NYC or Chicago.

Michshitgan is the right choice unless you are from STL and are ok with working in STL.


For the other guy: Def GULC since you want NY biglaw or Chicago. Wustl doesn't really place well into biglaw period let alone NY or Chicago biglaw.

Yes but only 13% get biglaw from wustl vs 35% or so at Umich.

Once you miss the boat you are essentially screwed.

But both posters seem to have the biglaw or bust attitude. Michigan is the clear winner in that regard. The OP has presented options where you can't have no debt and good placement at the same time.

Also that 35 percent has probably bounced back up to high 40s or mid 50s (slightly more with clerkships).
