need advice on ranking

Post by ks1127 » Fri Mar 16, 2012 11:06 am

Up until US News came out, I was dead set on Villanova. Full ride, live in the area, great campus, etc. But they dipped to 101. I am also in with money at Temple and GMU. GMU has a top 25% stipulation and Temple is a 3.0, but they low balled me and I'm negotiating.

My overall question: How heavily should I focus on rank? I can still go for free to Nova, and GMU and Temple will be comparable in price. Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, anyone attending Nova, how are the jobs prospects?

Considering all the schools in question, you only option here should be the full-ride.

Unless you think you can do better on your LSAT, then it's retake.

From what I hear (I'm a 0L so I don't know anything) the rankings don't really matter in Philly and Temple and Nova are seen as peer schools. I have no idea what the future implications are for rankings but for now a full ride seems like a solid idea, especially considering Temple isn't giving out anything this year.

Just an fyi, median GPA at temple is a 3.05, so your scholarship wouldn't be totally safe. If you do just slightly below average you could be paying full instate rate. That is very possible here, since people are savvy, smart, and motivated. Lots of folks come here because its such a great value for PA residents, and they know they have to do relatively well to get what they want out of the school.

If you want to work in the Philadelphia area after law school, the offer from Villanova seems attractive.

Are you willing to share your numbers ? 163/(?) ?

Then just think of the #101 ranking as "just below median" with three years to improve. :D

Are you going to both of the accepted students days? That's what I am doing for Temple and Villanova. After that I am hoping that I will feel some assurance from one of the two schools.
